Standard LiFePO4 loses capacity and risks damage in the cold — EGbatt’s low-temperature cells hold capacity and discharge safely well below freezing for winter-duty applications.

Overview

EGbatt low-temperature batteries use cell chemistry and electrolyte tuned to retain capacity and discharge safely down to about −20°C to −30°C, where a standard LFP would sag hard or refuse to charge. They are for discharge-duty in the cold — outdoor equipment, cold storage, winter off-grid — not for charging below 0°C, which still needs a self-heating variant. We specify low-temperature cells where the duty is cold discharge and keep self-heating for cold charge, so you pay only for what the application needs.

How to specify & buying guide

Engineering & manufacturing at EGbatt

Our modules pair matched LiFePO4 cells with a purpose-built BMS, busbars and mechanical enclosure. We design for the thermal and vibration profile of the application — stationary rack, wall mount or mobile pack — and validate the assembly on capacity, IR balance and thermal runaway margin before it ships.

Frequently asked questions

How cold can it discharge?

Down to about −20°C to −30°C depending on the cell, holding far more capacity than standard LFP.

Can it charge in the cold?

Discharge yes; charging below 0°C still needs a self-heating variant.

Low-temp or self-heating?

Low-temp for cold discharge; self-heating for cold charge — sometimes both.

Is it more expensive?

Yes, tuned cells cost more; we spec it only where the duty needs it.
