Containerised BESS
A containerised BESS is a power plant in a box — EGbatt integrates MWh of LiFePO4 with liquid cooling, PCS, fire suppression and EMS into one transportable, grid-code-ready unit.
Overview
Containerised BESS packages LiFePO4 modules, liquid cooling, power conversion, fire suppression and an energy management system into a standard shipping-container footprint, delivered as a single commissionable unit. EGbatt engineers for round-trip efficiency across thousands of series/parallel strings, cell balancing at scale, and grid-code compliance for the target utility — front-of-meter, behind-the-meter, microgrid or solar-smoothing. The container is the right form once a project passes roughly 500 kWh to 1 MWh, where分散 cabinets become a wiring and O&M burden.
Key specifications
Typical applications
- Utility and C&I peak shaving: Large demand reduction.
- Solar/wind smoothing: Firming variable generation.
- Microgrids: Islanded or grid-support.
- Grid services: Frequency and capacity.
How to specify & buying guide
- Define the grid role (front/behind-the-meter, microgrid) — it sets PCS and compliance requirements.
- Model round-trip efficiency and degradation across the project life, not just nameplate.
- Confirm fire suppression, UL9540A and local grid-code early; they drive enclosure and controls.
- Plan O&M access, monitoring and coolant service for the full term.
Engineering & manufacturing at EGbatt
Containerised BESS integrates LiFePO4 modules, liquid cooling, PCS, fire suppression and EMS in a single transportable unit. We engineer for MWh-scale round-trip efficiency, cell balancing across thousands of series/parallel strings, and grid-code compliance for the target utility.
Certifications & compliance
- UN38.3 — Mandatory lithium battery transport test (altitude, thermal, vibration, shock, external short). Required for any cross-border shipment.
- IEC62619 — International safety standard for industrial Li-ion cells and batteries; expected by EU and most APAC buyers.
- UL1973 — North American safety standard for stationary lithium battery systems.
- UL9540A — Fire safety test method for ESS installations; often required by US authorities having jurisdiction.
- IEC63056 — Safety requirements for stationary lithium battery energy storage systems.
- CE — EU declaration of conformity for the applicable directives.
- IP54
Frequently asked questions
What size are your containers?
Typically 0.5–5+ MWh per unit; multiple units parallel for larger sites.
Is it grid-code compliant?
We engineer to the target utility's grid code; confirm the market up front.
What is inside?
LiFePO4 modules, liquid cooling, PCS, fire suppression and EMS.
How is it shipped and installed?
As a transportable container; site work is foundation, grid tie and commissioning.
