48V LiFePO4 Batteries
The 48V (51.2V) LiFePO4 battery is the industry-standard residential and small C&I platform — EGbatt builds modules, racks and cabinets around it with the BMS and inverter matching your system needs.
Overview
A 48V LiFePO4 system runs at 51.2V nominal (sixteen cells in series) and is the default platform for residential hybrid inverters and small C&I storage because it carries high power at manageable current. EGbatt supplies 48V as modules (5.12kWh building blocks), rack stacks and complete cabinets, all with integrated BMS and the communication your inverter or EMS expects. Going to 48V is the right call once a system passes roughly 3–5 kW — beyond that, 12V/24V cabling gets impractical.
Key specifications
Typical applications
- Residential hybrid storage: The default home platform.
- Small C&I: Cabinets and racks.
- Off-grid and backup: Pairs with 48V inverter.
- OEM systems: Custom 48V packs.
How to specify & buying guide
- Adopt 48V once the system exceeds ~3–5 kW — cabling stays practical.
- Match module voltage (51.2V) to your inverter's 48V LFP range.
- Specify BMS communication (CAN/RS485) if your EMS monitors the pack.
- Parallel identical modules with equal cabling to keep them balanced.
Engineering & manufacturing at EGbatt
Our modules pair matched LiFePO4 cells with a purpose-built BMS, busbars and mechanical enclosure. We design for the thermal and vibration profile of the application — stationary rack, wall mount or mobile pack — and validate the assembly on capacity, IR balance and thermal runaway margin before it ships.
Certifications & compliance
- UN38.3 — Mandatory lithium battery transport test (altitude, thermal, vibration, shock, external short). Required for any cross-border shipment.
- IEC62619 — International safety standard for industrial Li-ion cells and batteries; expected by EU and most APAC buyers.
- UL1973 — North American safety standard for stationary lithium battery systems.
- UL9540A — Fire safety test method for ESS installations; often required by US authorities having jurisdiction.
- CE — EU declaration of conformity for the applicable directives.
- RoHS — Restriction of hazardous substances in the battery and BMS.
- IP65 — Dust-tight and low-pressure water-jet resistant — suitable for outdoor enclosures.
Frequently asked questions
Why 48V and not 12V?
48V carries the same power at a quarter of the current, so cables and losses stay practical above a few kW.
What sizes do you offer?
Modules (5.12kWh), rack stacks and complete cabinets, scalable to hundreds of kWh.
Will it pair with my hybrid inverter?
If the inverter's battery range covers ~44–58V (LFP), yes.
Is it certified for installation?
We build to IEC62619 / UL1973 and support UL9540A documentation per market.
