10kWh Solar Battery
10kWh is the sweet-spot residential size — enough for a day of self-consumption and a few hours of backup — and EGbatt builds it as a 48V LiFePO4 pack ready for a hybrid inverter.
Overview
A 10kWh LiFePO4 battery is the most common residential size because it covers a typical home’s evening use after a sunny day and carries critical loads through a short outage. EGbatt delivers it as two 5.12kWh 48V (51.2V) modules in wall or rack form, with an integrated BMS and the communication a hybrid inverter expects. It is the right starting point for most grid-tied-with-backup homes; add modules later if usage grows.
Key specifications
Typical applications
- Daily self-consumption: Store PV, use at night.
- Short outage backup: Critical loads.
- Starter home storage: Expandable later.
- Time-of-use shifting: Where allowed.
How to specify & buying guide
- If evening use exceeds what 10 kWh covers, start at 15–20 kWh rather than adding later (cleaner one-time install).
- Confirm the inverter's 48V range and that it is hybrid (PV+battery+grid).
- Decide wall vs rack from available space and future expansion plans.
- Get IEC62619/UL9540A docs if your utility or rebate requires them.
Engineering & manufacturing at EGbatt
Residential systems are built around a 48V (51.2V) LiFePO4 core with a hybrid inverter interface, backup transfer and safe indoor/outdoor enclosure. We size for daily cycling and backup autonomy, and document the system for IEC62619 and UL9540A so your installers can pass inspection.
Certifications & compliance
- UN38.3 — Mandatory lithium battery transport test (altitude, thermal, vibration, shock, external short). Required for any cross-border shipment.
- IEC62619 — International safety standard for industrial Li-ion cells and batteries; expected by EU and most APAC buyers.
- UL1973 — North American safety standard for stationary lithium battery systems.
- UL9540A — Fire safety test method for ESS installations; often required by US authorities having jurisdiction.
- CE — EU declaration of conformity for the applicable directives.
- RoHS — Restriction of hazardous substances in the battery and BMS.
- IP65 — Dust-tight and low-pressure water-jet resistant — suitable for outdoor enclosures.
Frequently asked questions
Is 10kWh enough for a home?
For evening self-consumption and short backup, usually yes; heavy all-electric homes need more.
Can I expand later?
Yes — parallel identical modules to grow capacity.
What inverter do I need?
A 48V hybrid inverter whose battery range covers 51.2V LFP.
How long does it back up the house?
Hours for critical loads; whole-home depends on the inverter and load.
